Food, glorious food

Just a few quickly snapped photos of some of the meals I've eaten since June 12.

The day after my muscle biopsy surgery, my friends Hilary and Carla showed up with armfuls of fresh produce, good-for-me teas, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, tuna, sardines, fish oil pills, nuts and nut butters, and a pledge to join me in eating an anti-inflammatory diet — a gift from my yoga gang. (Some people with muscle myopathies like the one I have have managed to get back to a version of normal — and stay there with the help of anti-inflammatory eating.) And with that, things changed pretty abruptly for me.

I have found I do like the food, but more surprising than that, I like the creative aspect of experimenting with putting different ingredients together. Not unlike a design project . . .

For people with muscle myopathies, here’s a quick overview of diet-related recommendations which I found to be really helpful.

Raise a glass to kale! (Kale “smoothies” taste way better in a nice glass, by the way.)

  1. What beautiful photos of beautiful meals. You've inspired me to make you a "meal project." More soon.
