Take that, myopathy! (Plus an update)
We’re back in action, baby!
Over the years, Tim and I have had a routine of long early-morning Sunday walks — which was interrupted, needless to say, by last year's muscle madness.
So it felt great this past Sunday to realize, once we got home, that we had set a new post-myopathy record. Equally exciting for me was the fact that the mileage didn't wipe me out for the rest of the day or week — an effect exertion has had lately. . .
* * * * *
And in other muscle-myopathy news:
The bullet points, for handy updating:
- Quarterly bloodwork in February came up with a serum CK of 193. Even lower than last fall! (By just one point, but I’ll take it!)
- Got my first COVID-19 vaccination last month. Second one is scheduled for April 22.
- Had to put rituximab infusions on hold in order to get vaccinated, but the rheumatologist thought that should be OK. Infusions are now scheduled for May 7 and 21.
- Still taking methotrexate. I’m hoping to get off of it after the rituximab infusions, something the rheumatologist hinted might be possible.
- Ribs and nose appear to be fully healed after my fall in October.
- I drove last week for the first time in almost a year. Felt like a teenager. Watch out, world . . .
- I’m still trying to stick to an anti-inflammatory diet. My friends Hilary and Carla gave me an Instant Pot for my birthday, which will make things much easier if I will only get over my fear of it and put it to use.
- I continue to feel stronger. Crediting yoga and walking and light weight conditioning.
In short, I am grateful and hopeful—and boringly normal these days. 😊
You are amaaaazing, beautiful, inspirational, and gravity-defying... xoxoxoxo
